Our Story:
Stacey and Shaun met at (of all places) a wedding. Stacey was our mutual friend Dan's "date\friend" to Jason and Kelly's wedding in Charlevoix. To make a slightly long and interesting story short, after a few well made beverages, and after seeing Dan dancing with some other girl, Shaun saw Stacey sitting at the table by herself. Feeling like making a move instead of regretting a missed opportunity, Shaun walked over and asked Stacey to dance. After a long night of tearing up the dance floor, Shaun, Dan, Stacey, and friends went back to the Hotel to post party. Due in part to a collective hangover from the night before, Shaun did not jump on the opportunity to ask Stacey for a date. After thinking all was probably lost, Shaun was surprised to see Stacey show up at Shaun's 1st Annual Halloween party. Not wanting to miss another opportunity, Shaun asked for Stacey's phone number before the night was over. He then waited two weeks (although swears it was sooner) to call Stacey for their first date. Three years, one month, and four days later, Shaun let Stacey know just how perfect she was for him, by going a "little" over the agreed Christmas gift spending limit, and giving the woman of his dreams a gift she will never forget.
The Proposal:
As of Tuesday night (12/23/08), we are officially engaged!! After trudging through a snow storm, we had a pleasant dinner at Carrabbas. After dinner, we spent a couple hours playing around at Dave and Buster's where Shaun had to drag Stacey away from the Tick-Tack-Pop game to go home for a gift exchange. After dinner and games, we trudged back through the snow storm to the condo to exchange Christmas gifts. The candles were lit, the couch turned around to face the Christmas tree, and the music was playing some Christmas classics. Stacey opened her first gift, an expandable clothes drying rack (which was on her wish list), Shaun opened his gifts (SouthPark DVD’s and a bottle carrousel), then Shaun gave Stacey her second gift. First a mushy card, then a big box all wrapped up with ribbons and bows. Inside the big box was a bag of cracker jacks (Shaun always joked with Stacey that if he got her a ring, it'd be from a crackerjack box). Under the cracker jacks was a "prize" gift box wrapped in ribbon. Stacey opened the gift box and found a little gray jewelry box. She opened it and went into shock as Shaun got down on a knee and the ring sparkled on her finger. She was so in shock that she had Shaun propose a second time a couple hours later so she could remember it.
